Holistic Development is the goal….!!

Aspirants preparing for UPSC, don’t get much time for holistic development, like verbal and thinking abilities, which could be a disadvantage.

These activities could help in developing their aptitude and approach.

Ednita in collaboration with Debsoc Miranda House organised the "Parliamentary Debate" competition on 27th September, 2020.

Parliamentary Debate, has for long been the predominant form of competitive academic debatin, based loosely on the deliberative discussions of  "The British House of Commons".

Parliamentary debate is lively and audience-oriented. The House of Commons, unlike the U.S. Congress, permits no written speeches from it's members. Similarly, no speeches, briefs or quotations are read in parliamentary debates.

The debaters speak extemporaneously in parliamentary competition, using only the notes they have made during the debate and preparation period.

They address all the others as ''Parliamentarians'' and judges as the Speaker of the house.

The importance of such debate competitions:

1.The Aspirants start to do better while competing with each other.

2.A healthy competition boosts  one's talent, skills inculcate qualities of team work and cooperation.

3.Debate is one of the best tools to develop oratory and speaking skills in aspirants which gives them self-confidence to express themselves effectively and boldly to impress and convince the listeners.

Here are the Highlights of the debate held with an overwhelming participation :
